[TRANS] 130128 Kim Jaejoong’s ‘I’ Becomes The First JYJ Album To Appear On The Oricon Charts In 2 Years
The solo album of JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong has entered Japan’s Oricon Charts, signaling a green light on JYJ’s Japanese activities.
According to the Oricon Charts, Japan’s most respective album sales charts, Kim Jaejoong’s first solo mini album ‘I’ entered the weekly album charts (January 4th~20th) in 15th place. Kim Jaejoong’s album was released on the 18th in Japan and sold a total of 7,331 copies in two days.
Setting aside the album sales and rankings, the fact that his album showed up on the Oricon Charts is a feat itself. Kim Jaejoong’s album is the first JYJ album to enter the Oricon charts in approximately two years since March, 2011. JYJ’s albums have been excluded from the Oricon Charts since their lawsuit against the Japanese agency AVEX began. However, their lawsuit ended on the 18th of this month, and it has become possible for their albums to be included on the charts again.
Not only this, but the fact that he was able to sell close to 10,000 copies of his album in two days, without any promotions in Japan on an album that is entirely in Korean, proves that he is still being loved by his Japanese fans, regardless of the 3 year hiatus.
Kim Jaejoong’s first solo mini album has sold over 67,000 copies in Korea, according to the Hanteo Charts, though it is only a mini album. It has topped the iTunes rock charts in nine overseas countries and has been sold out in various album stores in Japan, proving Kim Jaejoong’s explosive popularity overseas.
Meanwhile, Kim Jaejoong held his ‘Your, My and Mine’ concert on the 26th and 27th at the Ilsan KINTEX. The concert ended in success with 14,000 fans cheering him on. Kim Jaejoong will soon be kicking off his Asia Tour in February.

[Interview] JYJ′s Kim Jae Joong is Sad About JYJ′s Inability to Appear on TV
Although its legal proceedings with SM Entertainment have come to a conclusion, JYJ is still unable to appear on TV as singers.
As such, JYJ member Kim Jae Joong recently came to voice his sorrow at being unable to perform on TV.
In a recent interview with enews, Kim Jae Joong said, "It′s not just our problem, but we′re really sorry."
As such, JYJ member Kim Jae Joong recently came to voice his sorrow at being unable to perform on TV.
In a recent interview with enews, Kim Jae Joong said, "It′s not just our problem, but we′re really sorry."
Kim Jae Joong, Park Yoo Chun and Kim Junsu, who were members of TVXQ (DBSK) at the time, demanded their contract with SM Entertainment be cancelled, filing a lawsuit against the agency in 2009. Their opinion was that their 13-year contract with SM was too long, and that the division of profits were set at the agency′s advantage.
As the court acknowledged that it "approves individual promotions," the members have continued to promote through dramas, albums and concert tours inside and outside Korea. The group, however, hasn′t been able to appear on music or variety shows. The three main channels defended their avoidance of the group with the assertion that its appearance could have an affect on the court decisions.
The long battle came to an end in December with an agreement between SM and JYJ, but the main channels are still treading carefully around the issue of the group′s televised appearances.
Kim Jae Joong said about the lack of televised promotions, "People around me tell me ′you′re doing great even without television′ or ask ′aren′t you doing okay without it?′ but that′s how it looks when you see things from JYJ′s point of view. Celebrities need to approach their fans through the media, but for us, it′s the fans who have been seeking us and our music."
He added, "Elementary school students these days don′t know us. Though they do know us, they know us as actors, so that′s saddening. We′ve spent almost four years this way, and we want to repay our fans who have been coming in to visit us."
In the meantime, Kim Jae Joong released his first solo mini album I on January 17. The promotional single Mine has been received as a revival of traditional rock.

[NEWS] 130201 Kim Jaejoong’s Korean album got 4th place in Oricon, even without promotion
JYJ Kim Jaejoong’s first solo album is getting a good response even in Japan.
According to Oricon, Japan’s most prestigious music sales chart, Kim Jaejoong’s album ‘I’ ranked no 4 in Overseas album chart and no 8 in overall weekly chart on the week of January 21-27. Kim Jaejoong has sold 20,117 copies just after 10 days since it was released last January 18 in Japan.
This album in Korean, which was released in Japan without promotion, but still ranked high is considered unusual. It should be noted that the number of copies that have not gone thru official Japanese distributor companies were not aggregated or considered in the chart.*
Kim Jaejoong’s album has garnered interest and has been sold out even without promotion which is a rare occurence. It also became no 1 on iTunes rock chart in 9 countries overseas, including Japan. Recently, C-jes entertainment has produced an additional 20,000 copies since 120,000 copies initially produced were all sold.
Kim Jaejoong’s first solo mini-album ‘I’ is classified under rock genre, the intense sound of the title track ‘Mine’ and pre-released song ‘One Kiss’, sweet voice with compelling lyrical songs ‘There’s Only You’, ‘My Only Comfort’, ‘All Alone’, have reached a high level of popularity and has garnered rave reviews.
Kim Jaejoong will proceed with ‘Your, My, Mine’ Asia tour in February after successfully completing a mini-concert and fanmeeting with more than 16,000 fans attending last Jan 26-27.
T/N: * The 20,117 copies are from official Japan distributors like Tower Records, HMV, etc. The albums bought by Japanese fans who ordered directly from Korea (to help in Hanteo) were not counted.
[TRANS] 130124 Why Is There No ‘Thanks To’ On Kim Jaejoong’s Album? “I’m Putting It In The Next JYJ Album”
Kim Jaejoong revealed the reason why there’s no ‘Thanks to’ in his solo album.
We met with Kim Jaejoong, who recently released his solo album ‘I’, at a cafe in Gwanghwamun for an interview. There were many people who helped him in the process of becoming a rocker, and he must have many people who he’s thankful to since this is his first solo album, but he didn’t include them in his album.
His response was short and strong, “I’m going to do it when the next JYJ album is released.” He continued to add, “I should have written a ‘Thanks to’ since this is my first solo album. I have so many people I’m thankful to, but I worried that people’s feelings would get hurt if I accidentally left someone out. If this was a JYJ album, Kim Junsu or Park Yoochun would have mentioned them, even if I actually did forget someone..”
Regarding the members’ response to his solo album ‘I’, Kim Jaejoong said, “Junsu likes ‘Mine’ and Yoochun likes ‘One Kiss’.” He also dropped a bomb(!) when he said, “Yoochun recently went to China, and he said that when he heard ‘One Kiss’, he immediately thought, ‘I need a drink right now.’ It seems like he enjoys binge drinking.”
